Jesus did not teach courses in a classroom. He had no syllabus. He didn’t write a book. This is significant. It took quite some time to record some of Jesus’ sayings and deeds. Jesus’ life was a series of personal encounters. The portrait we find in the gospels shows how much Jesus’ theology depended on the people, on their pains and wounds, questions and concerns.
